Biskupia 4 Residence

The residence at Biskupia 4 is a town house built in 1921 called "Dom nad Młynówką". The name, albeit not official, comes from the fact that the old Rudawa river bed used to run that way and was often referred to as "Młynówka Królewska". The earliest records of Młynówka date back to the 13th century. At that time a decision was made to bring Rudawa river waters from Mydlniki to Kraków via an earth aqueduct. In 1327  King Władysław Łokietek commissioned the construction of a weir damming Rudawa waters in Mydlniki, as well as the entire system supplying water to the city of Kraków. The old Milówka river bed was altered only in 1903 after a flood, when the flood backwaters caused the largest losses to central Kraków. The decision to seal the river bed was made at that time. Between 1910 and 1912 the river was re-directed into the current river bed draining into Wisła River near the Norbertines' Monastery.

The town house itself comprises 26 flats with a total floor space of nearly 1475 sq. m. Its façade, elegantly renovated, fits in perfectly with the local architecture. And it is difficult not to mention the location of the building itself. It is an ideal base for anyone looking to discover the magnificent historic sights of Kraków. Direct proximity of the Main Square, as a reference point, means that travelling to Kraków's Kazimierz or Wawel is a piece of cake.
